Commissioned Work

My original Family Tree in my gallery sparked an unexpected outcome for me when two siblings approached me at a festival and asked if they could commission me to draw their family tree, with 12 people in it instead of 5.  Never one to turn down an artistic challenge, I completed their tree for them in time for Christmas, and have since completed several others.  The one pictured here has 19 family members from an infant (who was not even born at the time it was drawn) to the proud grandparents sitting on a bench underneath their family.

A heartwarming, original gift, your own unique family tree can become a wonderful keepsake for an anniversary, birthday, Christmas, or any occasion.  As the people in the drawing are not even an inch tall, I only need their sex, age, hair color and length, along with any specific clothing or item (such as football or a red shirt and jeans) which might identify them.  It’s up to you whether they’re all on one limb, sitting, climbing, or swinging joyously from branches.  Contact me at susieelliot@yahoo.com for pricing, requests, or specifics.

I am also willing to try any idea for any tree that you might come up with, including realistic representations of your favorite tree, character trees of your favorite person, or ideas completely from your imagination.  I often start a piece with a tree photo, which may morph into it’s own identity, or quite closely resemble the actual tree.  Below is an example of an original which was a gift for my friend Kristy, my long time walking buddy who gets out of her warm bed every day at 5 am when the world is sleeping to walk through rainstorms, windstorms, snowstorms, icy roads, biting insects, heat, and subzero temperatures.  Some days the only reason I get up is because I know she’ll be out there.  Kristy is well known by my dog and I for wearing the most fantastic combinations of colors from pink hats and lime green striped windpants, to her geeky baseball hat with lights on the visor.  We always joke that “no one sees her but us” but, obviously, in my imagination, the trees are watching….and, maybe that little squirrel in the upper branches.    I love you Kristy!
