2011 was my close to 50th year with a pen in my hand, but only my 3rd year as a Tree Artist. My first year I completed 10 trees, and stepped into the world of selling art like a child who couldn’t swim sticking their foot in the deep end of the pool. Whether you fall or jump, you’re not exactly sure what’s going to happen when you actually plunge in. What has happened is a virtual deluge of amazing people, great show experiences all over Maine, and a positive, heartwarming response to my trees that goes beyond anything I could have imagined. I have had little children laugh out loud, old people tell nostalgic stories of trees they’ve loved for decades, people give me directions to trees that “I just have to draw”, and all sorts in between who have filled my head with new ideas, new directions, and the conviction that this is what I am supposed to be doing with my life.
Thank you to the thousands of new people I met this year, and as I look forward to 2012 and all the trees yet to be drawn I can only say….BRING IT ON!
BRING IT ON, 2012!
