Where’s Bullwinkle?

ORIGINAL AVAILABLE

This drawing originated from a series of tree photographs taken in a Bonsai museum. As with most trees and I, faces evolved as the drawing progressed.  With no title in mind, I put the piece on Facebook and held a “naming contest”.  Someone wrote, “I see Bullwinkle!”   Bullwinkle the moose and Rocky the flying squirrel came from a popular cartoon series in the 1960′s.  I revisited my own drawing, while thinking about the popular “Where’s Waldo”" books, and trying to remember what I knew about Bullwinkle.  I could now clearly see Bullwinkle’s muzzle and eye and, yes, an antler.   Once I saw him, I couldn’t NOT see him.  When two more people told me they saw a moose in the tree,  this piece went from Bonsai to Waldo to Bullwinkle just like that.

I just looked at some of your work, really great and I love the card I bought from you with the tree being thrown into a crevasse. Was interesting how someone else took it in a different way.

anyways great work, enjoyed looking at your web.
