Welcome to my Blog
Welcome to my first ever BLOG. According to blogger.com, blogging’s just a fledgling idea, not more than a decade old. One who blogs is called a “blogger”. That’s me, Blogger Sue. I’m a tree hugger from way back, and in 2009 I finally smartened up and decided that I should be drawing what I love instead of what everyone else was asking me to draw. If my heart’s in it, I told myself, maybe people will get it. So far so good. According to what I read, a blog can be a personal diary (my art is very personal), a daily pulpit (probably not), a political soapbox (definately not), breaking news (hopefully!), or a collaborative space (yes!) You can put photos and videos and links and all sorts of stuff in here. So far I’ve only attempted the photos, but with the help of my wonderful web designer Diana McQueen, (www.newmoon-oldsoul.com) I hope to accomplish more soon.
If you’re wondering what a tree artist is, I made that up. It’s the easiest way to say that everything I draw, paint, or otherwise create has a tree in it, sometimes many trees. Sometimes they’re funny, sometimes they’re not. Every tree I draw has a story behind it, I’m not making that part up. Sometimes, and this is just wonderful to me, the story sells the tree. I haven’t even tapped the surface yet of my ideas, and I welcome any of yours. I love to get photos of cool, old, twisted, funny looking, facial featured, trees that are just begging to be drawn. I found out last summer at the many art festivals I participated in, that almost everyone has a favorite tree from sometime in their life, and they love to tell about it. I love to hear the stories, so bring it on. Welcome to susanelliot.com.

Hi Susan, While visiting my sister in the hospital in Augusta, I stopped for a while and looked, really looked at your beautiful artwork. What a delight in the middle of sadness to come upon such a gift. Some made me laugh, some made me think……just quiet thinking, and some brought a tear to my eye. The depth of your work/play is an inspiration. Thank you for this gift. I will be visiting the gift shop at the hospital to buy some cards as well as finding you at the art/craft fairs that are coming up. May you be blessed. Donna
Donna,
What a kind, kind thing for you say.
This is my second showing at Maine General, and I’m shocked at the amount of people that actually stop and look at the art in the hallway. I find this out in the most random places when people see me somewhere else. Looking at many of my pieces together gives you a much better idea of the scope of my love of trees than just seeing one piece of art. Hearing things like what you wrote to me confirm what I already know…that this is something I am supposed to be doing. I hope your sister is well, and please don’t hesitate to share my website with your family and friends. thank you!
Sue
